toptip.drive – Help & Tips

Everything you need to know to use TopTip Drive efficiently – simple, practical and easy to follow.


🚀 First Steps

1) LoginAfter registration you receive your login details by email:

  • URL: https://cloud.toptip-85.de
  • Username: your chosen username
  • Password: your password

Tip: Change your password after first login under Settings → Security.

2) Getting familiar with the interface

  • Left side: your folders & files
  • Top area: “+” button to upload or create files
  • Top right: profile & settings

Tip: Use a modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) for best performance.


📝 Creating & Editing Documents

Create a new document

  1. Click the “+” button
  2. Select:
    • New document (text)
    • New spreadsheet
    • New presentation
  3. The editor opens automatically
  4. Changes are saved automatically

Open existing files

Click a file such as .docx, .xlsx or .pptx and it opens in the editor.

Compatibility: DOCX, XLSX and PPTX formats are widely supported (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


📁 Uploading & Managing Files

Upload files

Method 1: Drag & Drop – simply drag files into the browser.

Method 2:

  1. Click “+”
  2. Select “Upload file”
  3. Choose file from your computer

Browser upload limit: up to 5 GB per file.

Folder & File Management

  • Create folder: “+” → New folder
  • Move files: Drag & drop
  • Download: Right-click → Download
  • Delete: Right-click → “Delete” → confirm the security prompt. Deleted files are permanently removed and storage is freed immediately.
Note: For especially important data, we recommend keeping an additional backup (e.g. locally or on an external drive).

🔗 Sharing Files

Create a share link

  1. Right-click file/folder
  2. Select Share
  3. Click Create share link
  4. Copy and send the link

Security settings

  • Password protection: enabled by default
  • Expiry date: 7 days by default
  • Permissions configurable (view/edit/upload)

Security tip: Always keep password + expiry active for external sharing.


📱 Mobile Use (Smartphone & Tablet)

Browser access

Open https://cloud.toptip-85.de in your mobile browser.

  • View/download files
  • Upload photos
  • Manage folders
  • Editing documents may be limited

Nextcloud App

  • iOS: App Store → “Nextcloud”
  • Android: Play Store → “Nextcloud”

Setup:

  1. Server: https://cloud.toptip-85.de
  2. Enter username & password
  3. Done

Tip: For longer work sessions, a desktop computer is usually more comfortable.


🔄 Switching from Google Drive, Dropbox & Co.

Is a direct transfer possible?

A fully automatic transfer from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive directly to us is unfortunately not possible – these providers do not allow direct server-to-server access for other cloud services.

However, the easiest way works via the desktop client – and you don’t need to manually download anything.

How the switch works
  1. Install the desktop client of your current provider (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox)
  2. Install the Nextcloud Desktop Client
  3. When setting up the Nextcloud client, select “My Files” as the target folder
  4. Move your files from the old cloud folder into the Nextcloud folder
  5. The transfer runs automatically – your PC acts as a “bridge”
💡 Tip: Your PC only needs to be running during the transfer – afterwards you can uninstall the old client and cancel your subscription.
What do I need?
  • A Windows or Mac PC that stays on during the transfer
  • A stable internet connection (100 GB takes approx. 1–4 hours depending on speed)
  • The Nextcloud Desktop Client (free, available on the Nextcloud website)

How do I change my password?

Profile (top right) → Settings → Security → enter new password.

How much storage do I have left?

Your used storage is shown at the bottom left.

Can I upload files larger than 5 GB?

Yes – via sync client, WebDAV or optional SFTP.

Can I sync with my computer?

Yes – using the Nextcloud Desktop Client.

Are my data encrypted?

Transfers are encrypted (HTTPS/SSL). Data is stored on secure German servers.

Can I switch from Google Drive or Dropbox to TopTip Drive?

Yes, and it’s easier than you might think! A direct server-to-server transfer isn’t technically possible, but with the desktop client the move works smoothly – no manual downloading needed.
